Meez Avatar
With the Catholic Kids starting school again, I’m finally putting together a regular workout routine for the Fall and Gyminee is helping me stick with my nutritional and exercise goals. I HIGHLY recommend this online service to folks out there looking for some motivation. Seriously! What better place to get some grades of your own while school is in session - Gyminee gave me an ‘A’ for working out 5 times last week and an ‘B’ for meeting calorie goals.
How cool is that? Very much so, I say.
Thanks goes out to Father Roderick for the recommendation!

7/14/08: Completely Chlorinated
The Catholic Family and I have become permanent fixtures at the swimming pool, leaving me no choice but to replace my entire summer wardrobe with swim wear and beach towels. Officially, the count is now at 20+ swimsuits — and that’s just the count in my dresser alone! So if you’re sitting beside us during mass at church and catch a whiff of chlorine, you’ll know the reason behind the smell. (It tends to stick around, even after we’ve showered up after swimming.)
We’re starting to form gills.

7/06/08: Summer, Summer, Summer
Summer is in full force here at the Catholic Homestead, with all kinds of activities underway. So far, we’ve vacationed in Las Vegas and Great Wolf Lodge, and the Catholic kids attended summer camps (basketball for Catholic Son and arts & crafts for Catholic Girlie) to keep themselves busy. We’re checking more items off our summer ‘to do’ list every day, like the library’s summer reading program, visits to the pool, and sports (Tennis!). The days are passing by at an amazing speed!
And the sunscreen is almost on empty.

5/26/08: End of School Year
Finally it’s that time of year when the daily school carpool halts, instruments collect dust, and kids neglect all forms of learning materials - or try anyway. Now is also the time when parents must set a summer activity plan into motion to keep kids from getting bored with all that newfound freedom, and/or getting themselves into trouble. Yet while everyone is excited about summer break, I’m waffling between feeling wary about the lost quiet time that I once enjoyed during school hours and feeling relief from the lack of tightly scheduled events. That’s summer for you!
At least there’s a little more shut-eye involved. *wishful thinking*

4/06/08: Spring Breakin’
What’s a mom to do when her munchkins are home 24/7 for a long Spring Break? Here’s the scoop: rather than take another vacation, the family and I have decided to enjoy the break by kicking back and enjoying HOME. That’s right, no travels for us this time around! (We’re saving that for later.) Instead, we’re all enjoying quality family time together… as Mom puts in a few more hours at the gym, that is.
Parents need a little extra space during times like these, you know.

2/12/08: Happy Valentine’s Day
So here I am on the beach holding onto a bouquet of heart-shaped balloons, waiting for Catholic Hubs to join me for a romantic dinner as we gaze into each other’s eyes and watch the sunset. These dreams just keep getting better - especially since we’re nowhere near a beach in real life.
Hey, I’m just putting the idea out there… wishes may eventually come true. *fingers crossed*
Wishing you a day filled to the brim with lots of chocolate and love.

12/31/07: Happy New Year Time
What? I can dream, can’t I? So I’m dreaming about a stretch limo with Catholic Hubs waiting inside, ready to sweep me off my feet as we head off to a white sandy beach where we’ll toast sparkling Prosecco at midnight. I’m sticking with that thought. *sigh*
Have a fabulous New Year!

12/28/07: Holiday Christmas Card
Now this has got to be the ultimate blog card, presented to you by way of Meez Avatar! Here’s to a wonderful holiday and new year filled with all kinds of merriness, because the world just cannot get enough of that now can it? Of course not, don’t be silly.
Cheerio bloggerville peeps!

12/03/07: Shopping ’til I Drop
I’m finding myself shopping during most of my free time lately. Why? Because Christmas is right around the corner and how else is Santa Claus supposed to get all those great deals unless his little Momma Elves don’t step up to the plate and help out? Really now. So I’m taking my shopping-for-Christmas-present-deals very seriously and hitting those retail centers hard. Oh, and the online shops too. And don’t forget the catalog deals, of course. There’s absolutely no end to retail.
Holiday shopping makes the world go ’round and ’round.

10/28/07: Halloween Time
Ok so I’m dressed up as a witch for the third year in a row. Why not when it’s such an easy costume to do? Now I can focus more on Catholic Son’s costume, because he’s having a really hard time finding the perfect one this year. He wants to be a college football player, but we just can’t seem to find the right football jersey/helmet/pants/PADS to make the costume complete. *sigh*
Maybe I should do a little bit of witchy-magic and conjure up something for him?

8/31/07: Football & Flu
The smell of football season is in the air, yet I can’t quite capture the scent fragrant aroma due to this cruddy virus that has been making its way around our family, finally landing itself on yours truly just in time for Labor Day weekend and the first football game of the season. Well, at least my favorite team is going to be televised, that way I can watch the game from the comfort of the cushy sectional in my therapeutic pink fuzzy socks. How sweet it is.
But first I must load up on chicken noodle soup and a few boxes of Kleenex.

8/24/07: Back to the Grind
Officially, our work-school-CCD schedule is back in full swing minus the tag-teaming with our summer babysitter. Unfortunately, the CK’s were actually starting to enjoy that summer routine. (Sorry guys.) Me? I know I couldn’t have endured another week of summer break, and I’m pretty sure Catholic Hubs is with me in that thinking. Places to go, things to do… another great new school year ahead!
Meanwhile, we’re praying these crazy Fall thunderstorms will cease so we can have a decent night of sleep.

8/13/07: School Started—FREE DAYCARE!
Ok I don’t really view school as free daycare, but I no longer need to pay people to watch the CK’s thanks to the new school year that just so happened to start TODAY. The kids were excited as could be this morning as we waited for the first bell to ring. I was too, mostly because I’ve really missed all of the fun involved with school being in session: field trips, school projects, volunteering in the classroom, old (and new) friends, etc. And to be totally honest, the excitement of summer was just beginning to dry up on us.
Sweating it out in 100 degree temps hasn’t helped that situation either, let me tell you.
Today’s Meez: Back at the Office Momma.
8/3/07: School Clothes Shopping
Someone pinch me. This whole AUGUST thing jumped right out from nowhere, leaving me at the mall to shop for school clothes. Not for me, of course, but for the Catholic Kiddos who insist on wearing the latest duds when school starts… in less than 2 weeks!
Today’s Meez: Mallrat momma.
7/31/07: Exercise Time
After a long morning of website development at the home office, Meez thought an early workout would get the blood flowing again. And that it did. Workout log: 25 min. elliptical (-400 calories), 20 min. circuit training, 160 situps (incline), weight training 15 min.
Today’s Meez: Sweaty workout momma.
7/25/07: Day at the Office…
Nothing particularly exciting about Meez today downtown at the ‘Mother House’ office. So I’ll just post my avatar and be done with so I can get back to work. Because you know I’ve got plenty on my plate as the sole IT’er on staff.
Today’s Meez: ITCM the downtown momma.
7/15/07: Sunday fossil dig and hike at the park…
Time for a little outdoor fun at the state park where we dug for fossils, fed the fish & ducks and ate our lunches in the cool air conditioned SUV because it was freaking hotter than you can imagine out there. (Try 90+ degrees.) Yes, the CK’s only suffered from quasi-meltdowns thanks to the final blast of cool air. Thank God for modern amenities.
Today’s Meez: ITCM the hiker momma.
7/8/07: Weekend time at the theater… RATATOUILLE STYLE. Today, the Catholic Family and I set out to see the latest Pixar creation on the big screen, and well, it was really good. My favorite part of the whole thing was the Paris, France backdrop. (It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been to the ‘City of Light’ and one can never get enough of Paris.) Oh and it goes without saying that the animations were superb. Pixar-esque of course.
Must see this family friendly flick!
7/4/07: Happy Independence Day! Today, I’m lurking in the backyard with a big ‘ole honkin’ SUPER SOAKER. Watch your back, people… errant bursts of water are not uncommon today.
Today’s Meez: ITCM the water fanatic.
7/2/07: Memories of the weekend haunt me at the office today. The worst part? When Catholic Hubs beat my bowling score by ONE. PIN. Rematch?
Today’s Meez: ITCM the bowling queen.
6/25/07: Fun and sun at the waterpark! No time to blog. Nope. I’m on that big slide back there. What a blast.
6/18/07: While at the office all day, my mind is at the gym. Exactly where I’ll be soon… yep, I think my buns are asleep from sitting at a desk way too long.
Time to wake up those muscles!
6/15/07: Today I’m working in my casual duds back at the office, only Meez isn’t actually wearing denim today. Wish I were, but my denim capris are frayed at the bottom and the Sisters don’t look too kindly on frayed denim at the office on any given day, casual or not. So here in my dream world, I’m wearing the denim along with my ‘Air Force Brat’ t-shirt and casual tennis shoes.
And what am I doing at the White House? Well, basically I’m calling out to George W. Bush asking him to get my gold medal ready, because I’m 94% on my way to earning it after posting my latest workout log online. This is way too exciting for me. I just cannot wait to have that sweet thing in my fit little hands. I can’t!
As you were, folks.
6/12/07: Checking out the tennis courts today on a pleasant Tuesday. Get out that hopper, Peeps! The CK’s and I had the place to ourselves as we unleashed 3 fresh tubes of tennis balls. And the kids actually want to go back again this summer! Yippeeee I’ve got tennis buddies all over again.
Only now the CK’s want to see Hubs and I play a real game. Uh-huh, that’s right. Someone’s goin’ DOWN folks.
6/09/07: What a gorgeous Saturday. Meez thinks a day out on the town catching up on stuff like haircuts for the boys and a little bit of shopping will do nicely, complete with a visit to the deli for lunch. Yep. That’ll be Meez day.
Hmmm… wonder what’s the ‘Soup of the Day’?
Today’s Meez: ITCM the hangin’ & chillin’ weekend woman.
6/07/07: Reality check today, so bye-bye beach. Meeting with an important organization… must. look. sharp. (And my hands were only a teensy bit cold.)
Firm handshake speaks volumes.
Today’s Meez: ITCM the business woman.
Update (6/9/07): The meeting went well and now my consulting business is under consideration for membership in the ‘important organization’. Happy dance is expected within the next 2 weeks.
6/06/07: Back at the office physically but not mentally. I’d rather be at the beach right now, as witnessed by Meez avatar today. What? I can daydream! *sheesh*
Go on back to what you were doing then and leave me to my out of body experience. (Now where’s that beach towel? Looking…)
Today’s Meez: ITCM the beach-dreamer.
6/04/07: The CK’s and I went miniature golfing after I finished off some consulting work from home today. See that rock-climbing wall behind me? We didn’t climb it. We just golfed, but the golf place had a climbing wall. (Meez couldn’t find a golf club for my avatar.)
Hmmm… rock climbing? Rock climbing. That does look fun, you know. Maybe we’ll be back again. Why not?
Today’s Meez: ITCM the non-rockclimber.
6/03/07: Nothing too exciting, just cleaning the homestead. Is that dust I see?
Today’s Meez: ITCM the janitor.
6/02/07: Today CG and CS sent me off on a wild goose chase to find a pet frog and crab. What was I thinking? Well, after learning hands on that these critters would require a second 20 gallon tank in the Catholic home, the idea became null and void. End of discussion folks.
Then all of the sudden it was Mass-time where I witnessed parents having troubles containing babies and preschool age children. *eeks!* My God did the memories flood back—total blood, sweat & tears. And it was then that I said a prayer for those people… because those are the toughest times of all I tell you, but so worth it as the kids get older.
Today’s Meez: ITCM the church lady.
6/01/07: Can’t take this nursing business much longer, which is for the best because CS is springing right back to good health. Miraculous! All those prayers worked. *whew* So now I must take advantage of my extra day off to return a couple of flip-flop sandals at the mall. CS should make it ‘barf free’ after a clean morning. Methinks?
The feet can wait no longer.
Today’s Meez: ITCM the mall rat.
5/31/07: Hangin’ out at the homestead today. CS woke up with tummy issues, leaving me to play nurse between working on consulting projects. Not exactly how I pictured the first day of summer vacation, but we’ll get over this little ‘bump’ in the road. Soon, I hope. Meanwhile, I’m blaming the tummy trouble on a piece of bad cheese at the restaurant last night. *sigh*
Today’s Meez: ITCM the nurse.
5/30/07: Today I’m pluggin’ away at a few non life-threatening technology related issues, as witnessed by Meez busy-looking avatar. While back on the homefront, the Catholic Kids just completed one last HALF day at school and are celebrating the start of summer like a bunch of wild screaming meemies. Good luck keeping those people contained, Catholic Hubs! Oh how I’m looking forward to meeting my peeps for dinner at one of our favorite jaunts after my work is done here: Fuddruckers. *mouth watering goodness*
Today’s Meez: ITCM in funky semi-casual-eating-out duds.
